The Digital Library of Appalachia categories are general subject areas comprising major parts of the collection.  Current categories are:  Religion, Art & Culture, Education, Music, Politics & Government, Domestic Life, Minorities, and Work.  Browsing by category is one of the broadest means to search the Digital Library (the other being keyword search all collections).  Results are shown in alphabetical order by title for any collection on the site. 

There are two ways to browse by category.

First, from the front page of the site, you may click on one of the navigation images shown:

When you move your mouse over a particular image,
the eight-point star describes the category:

Here, the mouse is placed over the Work category, and the description appears.  If clicked,
records assigned to the Work category will appear.

 

Second, while viewing one record, you may click the Category hyperlink to browse other records in that category.
